@Hammonds Musicians can’t make as much money on albums anymore so their new strategy is to rely on live shows. The idea is that now with the internet, people have no shortage of access to music but this also makes it less personal between fans and artists, which is why fans are willing to pay more to see them live, for that rare “personal” connection which is on some level a human need. That’s more or less how it was explained to me by someone at Live Nation Asia.
I’ve seen AFI at Merriweather, but I personally like club-like venues better. If AFI headlines at 930, I will ship down from Boston to see that show!
